A world away from traffic fumes and noisy cities, busting shopping centres and crowded beaches, Lech has been described as one of the most beautiful villages in Europe, and is particularly known for its sophisticated skiing and royal connections in winter. In summer, though, what dominates instead are lush green flower meadows, sun–dappled rivers and dark pine forests skirting the gargantuan peaks of the Alpine mountains with wonderful opportunities for wildlife spotting. The village has a selection of exclusive boutiques to browse, plus cafes for people–watching, and lots of outdoor sports and activities to enjoy. It’s a superb choice for walkers with a range of trails from forest–based walks to high–ridge walks accessed by cable car offering spectacular views of the surrounding peaks.
All visitors staying in Lech are invited to purchase a Lech Card (price TBC) which gives you free use of the Lech and Warth (the adjoining village) summer cable cars and chairlifts, free use of the local and hiking buses (regional bus numbers 42 and 91/92 – though there may be a small environmental charge of around €1) and a range of free outdoor activities.

Wednesday – Thursday Free days. If you fancy an away–day adventure, how about Innsbruck? The nearest rail station is Langen, 20 mins by bus from Lech (line 91), and then Innsbruck is around an hour away by train and it’s a gorgeous journey. Half way along the journey is Imst, where they have a great ‘white–knuckle ride’ in the form of a monorail mountain coaster – you ride down the mountain in your own car, shouting your head off and trying not to hit the brakes. Less hair–raising but definitely smile–raising is the Segway, a bit like an old–fashioned lawnmower that you stand on and tilt to go. Huge fun!
Friday Free day, or join the optional excursion to Lindau and Lake Constance
Saturday Free day. Probably a good time to do your souvenir–hunting…
Sunday Breakfast and then transfer to the airport for your flight home
